############################################### Letter of Fr. Nebres, SJ to Bro. Luistro, FSC ###############################################
2 October 2008
BROTHER ARMIN LUISTRO, FSC President De la Salle University System 2401 Taft Avenue Manila
Re: Ateneo Bonfire
Dear Bro. Armin,
I would like to extend my deepest apology to you and to the La Sallian community for what some alumnus or student did at the Ateneo Bonfire, namely, write the names of the La Salle players on the wood. Unfortunately, none of us saw it ahead of time, because the wood pile was covered by a tarp against the rain until the time came to light it.
Despite our rivalries in sports, we are both committed to Christian values and what was done is certainly a violation of values we share.
Once again, my deepest apologies to you and to the La Sallian community. We are trying to find out who is responsible for the act.
Sincerely yours,
BIENVENIDO F. NEBRES, SJ President
##################################### Letter of Mr. Paredes to Fr. Nebres #####################################
3 October 2008 Fr. Bienvenido F. Nebres, SJ President Ateneo de Manila University Dear Fr. Nebres, I write this letter for two reasons. The first one is to own up to producing the materials with the names of the Green Archers and placing them prominently in the woodpile before the bonfire for all to see. Secondly, I sincerely apologize to you for the queasy situation you are in as a result of the backlash it created. While the nature of this letter is a personal apology to you, please feel free to extend it to parties you may deem fit to receive it. Sincerely, Jesse Paredes HS'54, AB'58 =============================================== (Now, in contrast...)By now the news has probably spread that the Ateneo Men's Judo Team won th e Championships with La Salle trailing at second. However, there is much more to the story than that. Before the last competition day was done, there was a match between a Judo player from La Salle and another university. When one of the spectators from the Ateneo side noticed that the ENTIRE Ateneo bench was cheering for the La Salle player he asked me, "Why are we cheering for La Salle?" I gave him a smile and said, "Well...they're our friends."Before the announcement of the over-all winners, the coaches and team captains of Ateneo and La Salle stepped on the mats and lined up facing each other. It was a very long line for each team that took up the entire length of the two playing areas- m en, women, high school, coaches and supporters from each school. The gym and everyone else in it became quite wondering what was to transpire. Both teams staring seriously across to the other line, a command is shouted and both teams all bow to each other at the same time signifying great respe ct and Judo solidarity. The line broke up with EVERYONE congratulating and thanking each other with sincere hugs and handshakes. There is something to learn from there. Much respect to the Coaches and seniors of de La Salle: Coa ch Sam Bernales, Gerard Teruel and Jason Senales. A SEA OF GREENS AND BLUES (Picture taken right after the bow. Our guys in blue and La Salle in green and white. ANIMO!)

while waiting for inspiration to strike... tagged by lemy, margie and cynth: 10 random facts + 6 weird things. :P RULES: 1. Each blogger starts with ten random facts/habits about themselves. 2. Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their ten things and post these rules. 3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose ten people to get tagged and list their names. 4. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read yours 1. i'm very picky when it comes to shoes. i always end up buying nothing after scouring the racks for hours. hahaha. but i love my very basic and comfy and black chucks. :) 2. i'm nearsighted. i even wore glasses back in grade school for a short while, though i was ecstatic at first because i wanted to have glasses (don't ask). 3. i speak better japanese than chinese. so much for 12 years of education in chinese schools! hahaha. 4. when i was going through my artsy phase, the only anime character that i was able to draw DECENTLY was hiei/vincent of "yuyu hakusho/ghostfighter" fame. :P 5. i'm a forensics geek. blood doesn't scare me though the idea of dissecting a corpse does. i even wanted to be a doctor when i was young but backed off when my mom told me about her experiences of sawing heads open to examine brains in med school. 6. i loved to dance when i was a kid. now i just vent it out on "audition". :) 7. i don't like the comic sans ms font. :P 8. i'm not the biggest fan of the color pink. not that i hate pink, i just don't like it that much. even during the power rangers/sentai craze, i usually favored the other rangers (usually the yellow ranger because she was the only other girl hahaha). 9. i'm good with names, terrible with remembering faces. :P 10. the only other sport that i took up "seriously" was swimming back in high school. though i wanted to join the varsity, my parents said no (surprise, surprise hahaha). semi-serious was kendo/japanese fencing back in japan. :P --- mechanics: - originally you're supposed to be tagged, but i'm too damn lazy to tag other people. so if you feel up to it, or you're just bored, feel free to do this. hahaha.
- okay, so you decided to do this. now tag somebody else. inflict them with something to do this summer.
- then make your own version of the mechanics. unlike my very articulate ab lit eng friend madame margarita rafols, i'm not very good when it comes to things like this. hahaha. but you get the point of this game. if not, i feel sorry for you. :P
6 weird facts about me... 1. i have an (unhealthy) obssession with japanese boybands. hehehe. yes, they have cheesy dance moves and lyrics, dress funny, a bunch of pretty boys (usually), some can't sing to save their life, but i don't give a damn. they're cute, and they can get away with being cute. hahaha. (ARAAAAAASHI~! ninohnosakuraibajun) :) 2. i tend to notice things about people like their habits, quirks and other very minor details. see my southpark albums for proof. XD 3. i'm very particular when it comes to buying journals. my titas used to give me girly journals, with the easy to open locks and scented pages and i usually end up discarding them after two entries. i prefer plain notebooks. :) 4. when i text people, i spell everything out. even in ym. i rarely use shortcuts. i also get peeved a bit when people spell "oo" as "uu" (gamers hahaha). XD 5. i only started eating vegetables during my exchange student stint in japan. hahaha. 6. i like collecting perfume and perfume bottles. my vanity table's littered with them. :D --- current music: arashi - "all or nothing"
it's the first day of summer classes... ...and it's raining(?!) good thing the weather cooperated with us today. sugar high friends/teammates are ♥ hahaha.

the day seems to go on and on. five minutes feels like an hour. or maybe it's just the summer heat.
but come to think of it, with people i know starting to look for jobs and worrying about resumes, callbacks and what not, reality makes me remember that pretty soon summer will lose that special meaning for me in two years time. that is, if i balk at the idea of prolonging my student life by going to law school. but then, that's another thing to think about.
in the meantime, priorities (summer classes, habana ftw!) priorities (judo + jiujitsu + gym) priorities (lalalalalife~).
online enlistment tomorrow. so i'm bored now. last week is next week. summer + micro eco = yuck. summer + lozada/habana for hi165 = pwede na XD back to training mode as well. unless anything else comes up, i'll prolly be training six days a week like most of my teammates (gym + judo + jiujitsu). dammit, i have to lose all the weight i gained. --- | You Are Trinity | "Touch me and that hand will never touch anything again." |

it's the last day of march, almost the first day of april. it's spring right now in japan, and i'd probably still be decked in layers upon layers of jackets if i were there. if i'd look out my window, there would be a cherry blossom tree in the park just across the street. it would be in full bloom right now. the train station is but a forty minute ride via bus.
i can go just about anywhere, anytime i want to.
darn, i miss that feeling.

is bored.
forget regret or life is yours to miss.sometimes, we all need to realize that reality's knocking on our door. and we don't have a choice but to open the door sooner or later. --- just finished watching "rent"... coincidentally, my favorite character is mark. :D Which RENT character are you? and roger, too (adam pascal's voice is !) hmm, dorama marathon-ing's much more fun when you're with company. :) six hours of "nobuta wo produce" (yamapi~) three hours of matsujun's "kindaichi shonen no jikenbo". hmmm, what to watch next? "kurosagi"? decisions, decisions.
